March in Georgetown means one thing before anything else: bluebonnet season is coming. The wildflowers along Ronald Reagan and the fields out toward Walburg start showing color by mid-month, and by the end of March the roadsides will be worth stopping for.

Beyond the flowers, here’s what’s on the Georgetown calendar this month.

First Friday on the Square — March 6

The Georgetown Main Street Program hosts First Friday on the Square on the first Friday of each month. Local vendors, live music, and the usual charming chaos of the historic square. It’s free, it’s family-friendly, and the restaurants nearby fill up fast — if you’re planning dinner, make a reservation before you go.

Williamson County Primary Runoffs

Several Williamson County races from the March 4 primary will head to runoff elections if no candidate clears 50%. Watch for results March 4 evening, and if a runoff is called, that date will fall in May. The county clerk’s office (wilco.org) has voter registration and polling location information.

Palace Theatre Repairs — Status Update

The Palace Theatre on the square has been closed since the January flooding that caused significant damage to the historic building. No reopening date has been announced. The Georgetown Heritage Society has been coordinating with the city on restoration options. We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.

San Gabriel River Trail

With weather warming, the San Gabriel River Trail through Georgetown is worth a morning. The trail runs east from Blue Hole Park along the river corridor. Blue Hole itself reopens for swimming seasonally — check the city’s parks page for 2026 dates.

Georgetown Market Days

Georgetown Market Days runs the second Saturday of each month at the San Gabriel Park pavilion. March 14 is the next date. Local food producers, artisans, and a rotation of vendors. Free to attend.
